It is based on a book that is an Eisner Award winner and a New York Times bestseller. It’s a personal story with an epic scope. It’s iconic and classic, yet modern and daring. Yes, we’re talking about ALL-STAR SUPERMAN.

It’s no hyperbole to say that Warner Home Video’s upcoming animated ALL-STAR SUPERMAN film is eagerly anticipated and the good folks at WHV have been kind enough to send THE SOURCE an exclusive still. . .



We’re getting closer and closer to the release date, February 22. I’ve had the good fortune to see a number of clips from the film. It looks stunning. And how about that voice cast? James Denton is Superman. Christina Hendricks is Lois Lane. Anthony LaPaglia voices Lex Luthor. Emmy Award winner Ed Asner is Perry White

There’s also an amazing documentary with Grant Morrison and Dan DiDio talking about the making of the ALL-STAR SUPERMAN comic books.

Grant’s enthusiasm for Superman, for the comic books and for the animated film are undeniable. But who am I to speak for Grant?

“It took only a single viewing for ALL-STAR SUPERMAN to become one of my all-time favourite superhero movies. The adaptation by Bruce Timm, Dwayne McDuffie and the team is quirky, epic and heartbreaking and I don’t think I’ve seen anything else quite like it. A triumph, as they say!”

Hey, Mad Men fans, did I mention Christina Hendricks is Lois Lane? Some things deserve repeating… Am I right?

I’ll be watching this one on February 22nd, along with everyone else.

Acabei de ver uns 10 episódios de desenhos Avengers e achei bem maneiro e bem próximo das animações da Warner. Contém mta coisa no universo Marvel que nunca foi abordada antes em um desenho só, acho que só ficam de fora alguns heróis urbanos e maior parte mutante, mas isso pode aparecer aos poucos futuramente se fazer necessário.
Desde o desenho dos X-Men da década de 90 que eu não vejo um desenho da Marvel tão legal. Para quem gosta da Marvel, está conhecendo e empolgado com os filmes Marvel, é uma boa pedida (até pq uma das intenções do desenho é preparar terreno para o filme).
Não achei um tópico do desenho, será que tem?

Young Justice Could Introduce Over 170 DC Characters by First Seasons End

Young Justice Producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti tell us how they decided on the characters for Young Justice and just how many DC heroes we may see during the first season.



Young Justice producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti recently talked with MTV about DC's newest animated television show. While they had quite a bit to say about what went in to bringing this show together, I found the thought process for choosing which characters to use on the show was really interesting.

So when it comes time to build the roster for a team like this, what goes into the decision? Are you picking names out of a hat? How does the selection process begin?

Weisman: First, I compiled a list of about 50 or 60 teen DC heroes. We started with as wide a selection as we could and then we tried to narrow it down based on a number of criteria. The criteria included a good mix of powers, skills etc. It had to do with it being a good diverse group, but we had our own personal geek preferences, too. There was also age, gender, and a number of other things, like personality or origins. We also looked for characters that had, frankly, baggage — something we could make some hay out of. And that's how we wound up with our half dozen.

Everyone wants to know if more of the classic teen characters will make an appearance in the show — other George Perez-era Teen Titans, for example...

Weisman: No one's off limits. No one's off the board. We're going to meet more teen characters in this season than the six or seven we start with. We have 26 episodes this season, which we're thrilled about, but we won't pretend we don't want to do additional seasons. So if the audience wants to see more teen characters, they have to keep our ratings high so that they keep ordering more episodes. But even in the first 24 episodes, we have 174 DC characters. That doesn't even count episodes 25 and 26. There will probably be about 180 by the time we're done.

And I'd imagine you have many more stories to tell with this cast, given the chance...

Vietti: We could probably keep telling stories in this universe for a long, long time...

A matriz do Cartoon Network anunciou hoje, em Nova York, um bloco totalmente dedicado à DC Comics em sua programação.

Em 2012 será lançado DC Nation, que reunirá "desenhos animados, vinhetas e uma visão de bastidores de todas as produções da DC". O título pega emprestado o nome do clássico painel de convenções que a editora promove há vários anos.

A Warner Bros. Animation cuidará da novidade. Prévias dos filmes de super-heróis do estúdio também são esperadas nesse bloco de programação.

Vale lembrar que, na verdade, o próprio canal Cartoon Network pertence ao mesmo grupo que a Warner Bros., dona da DC Entertainment e DC Comics.

• Secret Mountain Fort Awesome: From Pete Browngardt (Chowder), Cartoon Network Studios presents a hilarious new comedy about a mega-rad group of monsters that live underground and do crazy awesome stuff like steal the sun, fight CGI-sharks, and get their butts kicked by a velociraptor. Plus they wrestle! See, it’s awesome, right? But remember, it’s a secret. Shh!...premiering this summer.

• The Amazing World of Gumball: Dad is a 6’4" pink rabbit who stays home while Mom works in the rainbow factory. Their children include Gumball, a blue cat with a giant head; Anais, a 4-year-old genius bunny; and Darwin, a pet goldfish who became part of the family when he sprouted legs. The eye-catching animated series combines 2D and 3D animation techniques in a live-action setting and originates from Cartoon Network UK. The Amazing World of Gumball premieres Monday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

• The Looney Tunes Show: Screen icons Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck are back, starring in an all-new modern comedy series from Warner Bros. Animation featuring all of the favorite Looney Tunes characters—Porky Pig, Speedy Gonzales, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, the Tasmanian Devil, Marvin the Martian, Tweety, Sylvester, Granny, Gossamer, Lola and Tina, Daffy’s new no-nonsense girlfriend. Fresh designs coupled with a vivid, contemporary animation style enhance the timeless wit and charm that make these classic characters so beloved around the world. The Looney Tunes Show will premiere on Tuesday, May 3, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).

• Level Up: After high schoolers Wyatt (Gaelan Connell), Lyle (Jessie T. Usher), Dante (Connor del Rio) and Angie (Aimee Carrero) unwittingly open a portal from a video game into the real world, characters from the game and internet start leaking into the real world. The group now finds themselves balancing their everyday lives with the extraordinary things that show up in their town. Level Up is created and written by Derek Guiley and David Schneiderman (both credited for Chasing Liberty) and executive produced by Peter Murrieta (Wizards of Waverly Place, Hope and Faith).

• New Ben 10 Series [Title TBD]: Ben 10 has been one of Cartoon Network’s most successful original series since first premiering on the network in January 2006. The franchise has since spawned four animated series, one animated movie, two live-action movies, a widely-popular consumer products line and has captured the imaginations of viewers on a global scale.

• ThunderCats: The re-imagined animated series based on the beloved 80s classic tells the tale of a hero’s epic journey to fulfill his ultimate destiny. On Third Earth, the kingdom of Thundera is being threatened by the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra and young heir to the throne Lion-O embarks on a great quest to take his rightful place as king. • How to Train Your Dragon: Based on the book by Cressida Cowell, DreamWorks Animation’s new series rolls fire-breathing action, epic adventure and laughs into a captivating and original story. Hiccup is a young Viking who defies tradition when he befriends one of his deadliest foes—a ferocious dragon he calls Toothless. Together, the unlikely heroes must fight against all odds to save both of their worlds.

• Total Drama: Revenge of the Island: It’s back to the island where Total Drama began for an all-new season with an all-new cast! Since Chris took the show worldwide, Camp Wawanakwa has been abandoned and turned into a toxic nuclear waste dump—the perfect place for a new season of painful, cringe-inducing challenges! Fighting for the million dollar prize are thirteen wild new players.

• RedaKai: Conquer the Kairu: An animated kids adventure series stars Ky, a 15-year-old student of ancient martial arts who embarks on an incredible quest to find the Kairu, a primordial alien energy force. DC SHOWCASE Animated Films Soundtrack Set for Limited Release

Grab it while you can! La-La Land records has announced that they will be releasing DC Showcase - Original Soundtracks to the Animated Shorts. The release will be a compilation disc and will include all the music from the short-lived DC Showcase line of short films.



Presenting the world premiere limited edition CD release of the original score soundtracks to the DC SHOWCASE animated original shorts Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam, Jonah Hex, Green Arrow and The Spectre. Composers Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn, aka The Track Team (Kung Fu Panda: Legend of Awesomeness, Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Legend of Korra) expertly create a vast musical palette of dynamic musical environments in this thrilling collection of their music from these acclaimed DC Showcase original shorts. Batman: Year One Voice Cast Announced; First Photos Revealed!

The voice cast for DC's upcoming animated feature Batman: Year One has been revealed, plus two new images are now online.

The latest animated feature from DC is Batman: Year One, based on a comic book that was written by Frank Miller. Now, thanks to The Hollywodd Reporter, the voice cast has been announced and two new photos are also now online.

"Bryan Cranston, Ben McKenzie, Eliza Dushku and Katee Sackhoff have been tapped to star as the voices in Batman: Year One, the adaptation of the Frank Miller comic book classic from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation.

Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu are directing the movie, the 12th entry in the successful series of DC universe animated originals. Tab Murphy wrote the script."

Cranston is playing Gordon, while McKenzie is Wayne/Batman. Dushku voices Catwoman, while Sackhoff is Detective Sarah Essen, a Gordon love interest. Additionally, Alex Rocco lends his pipes as crime lord Carmine Falcone.

In Year One, a young Bruce Wayne is first starting out as a costumed vigilante. He creates an early bond with Lieutenant James Gordon, whose importance in the tale makes it as much as Gordon's story as Wayne's.

Batman: Year One is set to premiere at this year's San Diego Comic Con, followed by the DVD and Blu-Ray release in the fall.
